The mechanical transfer of orthodontic force and corresponding effector cells. During OTM, the side to which the orthodontic force is directed is subject to significant compressive stress, whereas the opposite side is subject to strong stretch stress. Meanwhile, as bone canaliculus are compressed and narrowed, the fluid in the bone flows from the compression side to the stretch side [16]
